Mathew Lopes graduated from Deerfield Beach High School where he was a three-sport athlete and a four-year letter winner on the baseball team. Coach Lopes continued his baseball career at Wilmington University, where he was a three-time 1st Team All-Conference & All-Region Player.

After finishing his playing career, Coach Lopes became the head coach at Deerfield Beach HS, then spent three years as an assistant coach with Coral Springs HS & Elite Squad Baseball Academy. He eventually transitioned into developing players and has spent the last five years working with hitters at the youth level up to MLB players.
